You’ll never be short of entertainment or far from a great meal when you stay on the hardstanding tourer pitches at the historic Friels Bar and Restaurant, in the rural village of Swatragh in County Derry/Londonderry, halfway between Belfast and Derry (both under an hour’s drive), and just off the scenic Glenshane Pass.
This award-winning pub is in a listed building dating from 1835 – formerly a doctor’s surgery, post office and coaching inn – and now in the hands of the fifth generation of the Friel family. The on-site visitor centre, Gorta, will give you a close look at the history of Swatragh village and Dr Mooney, who ran the former doctor's surgery.
Chances are you’ll be spending a fair bit of time in the pub, what with the free-flowing black stuff, classic pub fare and family-friendly vibe. There’s live music every Friday, Saturday and Sunday too, as well as a covered terrace for a pint or two on warmer evenings.
And what about the practical stuff? The handful of pitches are fully-serviced with electric hook-ups, drinking water, showers and waste-disposal facilities.

Super toller Stellplatz!!! 20£ pro Nacht mit Strom. Alles was man braucht und was man sich wünscht. Ver- und Entsorgung, Toiletten, Duschen und Strom. Duschen und Toiletten sind super sauber und modern. 2£ für 5 Minuten warm Duschen. Pub gleich nebenan mit gutem Essen und Getränken. Wir würden sofort wieder kommen, einfach super.
Wir waren dort für eine Nacht. Obwohl die Straße direkt hinter dem Platz liegt, war die Nacht ausgesprochen ruhig. Alles was ein Platz braucht, am Platz. Dusche haben wir selbst, daher hat uns die Kritik dazu nicht interessiert. Wir waren im Restaurant essen und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Netter Service, gutes Essen, schönes Ambiente. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen.

Lights on sensor, watch they go out when on toilet. Black/grey disposal & fresh water. Lots of road noise, Working on site, start at 7am. No discount at restaurant for staying over. Wouldn't stay again.
Lovely place to stop for the night. Showers and toilets were spotless. Pub is excellent for a few pints and had a lovely meal in the restaurant. Staff all very welcoming

Ideal parada para vaciado de aguas y llenado. Wc y ducha (esta última bajo coste). Todo súper limpio y plazas llanas. La estancia se paga en el pub justo detrás, que por cierto la comida es de 10. ¡Gracias!

stayed here in Sept 23. Phoned in advance to book the place, arrived after 8pm, nothing was a bother in the restaurant. They cooked us dinner also which was first class. Toliets and showers were clean. £2 for a 5min shower and electric hook up along with disposal facilities. Would recommend for a overnight stay with a few drinks and nice food in bar.
Je suis entièrement d’accord avec les avis précédents. Je souhaite cependant apporter une information complémentaire par rapport à la description initiale : dorénavant en plus des eaux grises il y a aussi la possibilité de vidanger les eaux noirs. Les autres services sont toujours bien présents.
Belle aire de stationnement. La surface relativement plate partout est en petits cailloux. La route est en surplomb mais certaines places sont assez éloignées du trafic pour que le bruit soit tout à fait supportable. 15 £ la nuit avec électricité. 2£ la douche en pièces de 1£. Le personnel du Pub qui gère cette aire est très sympathique.
Excellent stop over, toilets and showers brand new and spotless, bar and restaurant was great craic and live music every Friday, Sat and Sunday evening.. Highly recommend and we will be back again. Staff where very friendly and helpful.. Lovely beer garden and you can bring your dog to the beer garden.
Brilliant facility for all sized campers. Flat ground, access to water, electricity and toilets. Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming in Friels pub. Definitely recommend.
We stayed for one night in early November and I have given 5 stars. There is room for what looks like 20 campers and at the time of writing this review it was £15 per night Inc EHU. The shower and toilet block are very clean. The pub and its staff are very welcoming, it's kind a old traditional pub with an open fire. The food is first class and very reasonably priced. I will definatly be back.
